I receive many questions in my forum concerning the recommended protein shakes for the cabbage soup diet. That’s why I’ve dedicated a separate article to this important topic.
There is no question that the intake of proteinshakes gets you through your cravings, helps you stick to the diet, keeps you motivated and gives you a lot of energy. But there is another reason why we recommend them.
One of the main disadvatages of the classic cabbage soup diet plan was the lack of protein.
Protein however is the substance our muscles are made. It gives power and has fat melting properties. When we eat protein our body needs energy to exploit it – and this energy usually comes from our fat deposits….
It is claimed that when you do the cabbage soup diet without protein you may risk to melt the important muscle mass too!
We recommend the intake of two protein shakes per day while on the cabbage soup diet. One in the morning (great after your fat burning workouts) and one in the late afternoon or in the evening.
If you don't like these shakes we recommend to switch to another cabbage soup diet plan better known as our
miracle soup diet - based on dairy products.

I've tried all of the following three protein powders and found the number 1 - Almased protein shake the most effective.
Our favorite protein shake that we like to recommend in the context of the cabbage soup diet 2.0 is the Almased Protein Shake. Almased prevents a dive in blood sugar levels which usually leads to hypoglycemia or light-headedness. On top it doesn't taste sugary or sweet.
It is based on high-quality fermented soy and skim milk yoghurt powder. It contains 27 grams protein per serving resulting in 54 grams protein per 100 grams protein powder.

This is the first protein shake that combines chia and fiber with protein. We especially love its natural tasting vanilla taste and the fact that it makes you full while improving digestion.
It is based on whey protein. Per serving it contains 11 grams of protein resulting in 44 grams of protein per 100 grams of protein powder.
Garden of Life Raw Organic comes with 22 grams of protein per serving/scoop. Overall it contains the maximal amount of protein from all the 3 here presented protein powders: 66 grams per 100 grams of protein powder.
Big advantage: It is suitable for vegans and tastes all natural and junk free, just as it should be. What I don't like is the in 2016 invented new tub. It is larger in size and yet it contains less protein powder. This probably designed to deceive the customer, so an average of 3.5* reviews doesn't really surprise. The product itself however is excellent.
This is also nowadays one of my favorite drinks.
Mix together in a blender:
Add 2 tbsp protein powder – mix 15 seconds! What a taste!
If you don’t have the above mentioned fruits you may of course take the protein shake recipe from the morning also for the afternoon/evening.
By the way, all 3 of the above presented protein powders work also only with water!
Yes, you may have 2 shakes maximum every day. And even after your diet week we warmly recommend to drink at least one fat burner drink after your workouts (hopefully you stick to fat burning workouts also after the diet ;-))
Of course you can use any other good quality protein shake you have at home to accompany the cabbage soup diet. Two Slimfast shakes per day will give great results too.
Vegetarians and vegans can use instead soy proteinshakes.
In case you don't know what to do with the many pumkin heads in autumn and winter time - here comes the solution. Use it for a pumpkin shake. You may have two shakes per day. After the diet week or for guests you may add one teaspoon brown sugar per serving. Enjoy!
