Brussel Sprouts

by Veronika
(USA)

Can I have brussel sprouts prepared with balsamic vinaigrette and walnuts on day 2-3?

Brussel sprouts are a cultivar group of Wild Cabbage. They are cultivated for their small leafy green buds, which look like miniature cabbages. The taste is slightly bitter.
You may have brussel sprouts on the cabbage soup diet days 2 and 3 as on these days vegetables are allowed.

You may even enjoy them with balsamic vinaigrette (only 1 tsp olive oil permitted per day); Walnuts are not allowed on the cabbage soup diet - although they are very healthy they have a too high fat content which would dillute your fantastic weight loss success.

Cucumbers and Tomatos are both considered vegetables although they are technically fruit. Should they be eaten on day 1 or on day 2?

Hi Laura,
Cucumbers and Tomatoes can be eaten on all days that allow vegetables. That is Day 2, Day 3, Day 5 (only tomatoes), Day 6 and Day 7.
All the best,
Gabriela

Examples of cooked vegetables

Can u give us an example of vegetables that can be cooked and eaten on Day 2. Can we eat the vegetables like cauliflower, bottlegourd etc. which are low fat cooked in 1 teaspoon oil ...

Hi,
yes you can have vegetables like cauliflower, bottlegourd (opo squash or long melon) etc. on the cabbage soup diet.

1 teaspoon oil for low fat cooking is fine. As allowed cheat you may have 1 tablespoon oil - preferably olive oil per day altogether.

Dasheens or Taro

by Chloe Fernandez
(Brooklyn, New York, USA)

I had a vegetable called Dasheen on my second day of the cabbage soup diet. I've heard that its a starchy vegetable. Do I have to start the diet over, or are we allowed to have Dasheens on the vegetable day?

Dear Chloe,
dasheens also known as Taro are tropical starchy roots. I would not recommend them for the cabbage soup diet. On the other hand I don't think that you screwed it up yesterday. If hunger isn't overwhelming please continue with your csd week. I'm sure when sticking to the diet plan on the remaining days you should still see an impressive weight loss.

All the best,
Gabriela

But make sure that the roasted seeds are salt/ingredient free.
