Veggie Days

by Jen
(Cinci OH)

What about benas on the vegetable days? Are they allowed? They are fairly low cal and a good source of protein.

Hi Jen,
Beans, Pulses and other legumes are not allowed while on cabbage soup diet. But we endorse to eat them after the cabbage soup diet week (high protein, low cal, low fat!).

All the best,
Gabriela

Creamed spinach on day 2 , 3, 6

by AR
(Boston, ma)

Can i have creamed spinach on the vegetable days

Dear AR,
this question is understandable as spinach is welcome on the "vegetable days".
But creamed spinach usually contains cream that is high in fat! The better option would be to prepare "plain" spinach and add some low fat milk to it for a "creamy effect".

If you still want to use creamed spinach then you'll risk to experience a reduced weight loss effect.

All the best,
Gabriela

this depends on the fat and sodium content of the soup - if this was not too high you should be fine.

Avocados
by: DJ

I ate 3 mini avocados thinking they are a veggie but really a fruit. I mean those tiny little ones, 3 probably equal 1/2-3/4 of a regular sized one. I'm on day 2, freaking out but nothing I can do now. My question, will it have a serious negative effect on my weight loss? Also, I read where it was okay to have a sweet potato in place of a baked, just want to verify it's acceptable and I don't really want the butter.

Hello DJ,
just keep going, do some extra exercises, eat even more cabbage soup and you should still see a considerable weight loss. But please don't repeat consuming avocados within the diet week. All the best:)

Water
by: Anonymous

Think about it,one gallon of water weighs 10 lbs.
That is, one pint of water weighs 1.25 lbs.
I don't eat meat, drink alcohol, smoke and I even mix substitute sugar with real sugar. I can cycle up to 30 miles a day and yet I can't keep my weight down. I think, put on a thermal vest, cycle about 25 miles and hope that by the time I return I will have lost about 2-3 lbs. Hooray, it does happen but then I suspect my body replaces the liquid right under my very nose and I back to square one. What am I doing. I think, I,m heavy and that loads the sciatic nerve that gives rise to pain and the best resolve is but to get lighter. I like cabbage soup. Of course, if anyone has back problems there will a tendency to avoid anything that causes pain and that means moving so sitting at the computer can be a cop out. Doctors say the best way to deal with it is to keep moving ad infinitum. I'm male, 55yrs and according to delusion am healthy for my age. I weigh approx 189 lbs roughly 13.5 stones.

But most annoying of all is the sheer desperation of seeing time and time again no real result and that leads to frustration etc etc. My advice is never to give up better to die trying than to sink under a pile of flesh. Good Luck all.

Thanks Gabriella:) I appreciate the quick response. I have another question though. How often can you do this diet? once every month, two months, 6 months?

Hi!
it is not advisable to do the cabbage soup diet more often than 3-4 times per year.

All the best,
Gabriela

Did I just mess it all up. Am I going to lose any weight at all?????? I'm sooooooo upset...Should I just start another week instead? I'm at the end of day 3 right now.

Hello,
avocado is of course not the best idea for the csd. But if you stick closely to the diet plan from now on you should still see an impressive weight loss.

All the best,

3rd day

by Michele

Today is my 3rd day..I found that I had to make another pot of soup, I accidentally used a different type of cabbage, savoy cabbage..? Is that ok to use? I cooked another pot last night with green cabbage. And kept one container of the savoy cabbage. Should I throw the savoy cabbage soup out?

Thanks!

I have a lot of questions..thanks for your help! :)

Hi Michele,
your questions are welcome!
Don't throw the savoy cabbage soup away! Savoy cabbage is indeed a great alternative. Keep the soup, if you like it!
We even recommend savoy cabbage for variation.
