vegetarian cabbage soup diet.

I am a veggie.. Please suggest the vegetarian replacement for Beef on the Beef day.

Hi Lakshmi,
we recommend tofu as replacement for meat on day 5 + 6. Tofu is a great product based on soy beans and has a high nutritional value. It is low in fat but high in protein and very flexible concerning recipe variations. See below our shopping recommendation at Amazon:

vegetarian recipe with tofu

Hi,

I am a vegetarian so the beef isn't an option for me, I would still like to try the detox, you mention tofu...would you be able to provide some receipe ideas for the meat days but using tofu instead??

Looking forward to trying the detox after all read today!


Hi Laura,
here is a low fat tofu recipe suggestion (2 servings) for the meat day, best prepared in a wok:

1 green or yellow bell pepper, cubed

1 onion, cubed

1/2 pound tofu, cubed

1/2 pound mushrooms, halved

1 teaspoon sunflower oil

1 teaspoon basil

1 teaspoon low sodium seasoning

some pepper

Directions: In hot oil, saute onions in a wok till limp. Add mushrooms, tofu, seasoning, water & herbs. Simmer till your vegetables are limp.

Please let me know, how you liked it! You may eat all (two portions) at once eg. for lunch and prepare another "new batch" for dinner.
For variation you may exchange vegetables and try it with carrots, zucchini, leek or tomatoes too (instead of peppers).

veggie burgers instead on meat diet day

On day 5 and 6 can you substitute the meat with veggie hot dogs or veggie burgers made from soya?

Dear Shana,

this depends - as we recommend only low fat meat for the "meat days" and no meat burgers or hot dogs, the same is true for the veggie products. If the veggie burgers are low fat then you might try them as meat substitute otherwise better not! But please watch the salt intake too...

Required amount of meat/tofu?

Hi, I am on Day 6 of the diet and I woke up feeling very nauseated and dizzy. I rested for a while and had some carrots and water. I am a vegetarian and so yesterday substituted tofu for the meat, but was only able to eat about 5 oz.

Today I am not sure how much I will be able to stomach. Even the thought of eating tofu right now makes me sick. I may be able to eat some later but right now I am just sticking to water and about to try some more veggies/soup. Will not eating much more tofu inhibit me from successfully losing weight?


Dear Danielle,
the rule of the thumb regarding the required amount of tofu/meat is 10 to 20 oz.(300-600g) per day. If you eat less then the minimum amount you might risk to get very hungry. Some people can balance that out with more soup and veggies. If this is you too, then it is no problem if you have only 5oz Tofu per day.

meat day without meat

Hi. wondering if you dont eat all the meat and tomatoes will it effect you? But i am drinking all the water and one bowl of soup! Feeling sick and not hungry!

Hi,
one bowl of soup + water is not sufficient! In contrast - it will make you feel weak and sick.
You need the protein on the meat day otherwise you risk that your body is melting your muscle mass. You may consume instead tofu or proteinshakes.

Stick to the plan as close as possible to avoid any health problems.

Another option instead of tofu as meat replacement could be quorn, if available in your region.

Im a veggie, on day 5 and 6 can I have any fruit or vegetables? Also can I eat quorn instead of meat?



Hi Rachel,
yes, you may have quorn instead of meat. Quorn is
even healthier than the equivalent meat dish. Quorn is based on mycoprotein, a totally vegetable protein. And on top it is very versatile.


Day 5: quorn & tomatoes + cabbage soup (no fruits!)

Day 6: quorn & all vegetables (no potatoe, no fruits) + cabbage soup

Subsitutions for the meat days

I'm living in China for the time being, and beef is hard to come by (everyone around me is on a diet of oil and carbs). Can I substitute the beef for eggs one day and tofu another day?

please substitute the beef with tofu. It is the better choice than eggs for both "meat days".
