Switching Cabbage Soup Diet Days

Can you switch days on the cabbage soup diet? For example, on Day 2 have meat and on Day 5 eat vegetables?

No, for best results please don't switch days on the cabbage soup diet.

There is a healthy reason for the order given. Read in the following which days are safe for switching.

does the cabbage soup diet have to be in the order given

Are the days interchangeable or does one have to follow it to the "T"? For example can you go from day one-fruits to day four-bananas and skim milk to day day 2- just veggies and the baked potatoes? or does it have to be in the order given?

Hi Susan,
the order given has its deeper sense and has to do with the glycemic index of some foods and the insuline level in your body.

The order given makes sure that your body gets a certain amount of carbohydrates on a certain day.
On day 2, the baked potatoe in the evening helps to balance out the insuline level. On day 4 your body urgently needs the carbohydrates of the bananas otherwise you might risk to have a hunger attack and break the diet week.

For most people however it makes no difference when they switch day 5 and 6.

Switched days 1 and 2

I accidently began eating just the soup and veggies the first day instead of fruit. Is that ok?

Hi Jennifer,
this should't be a problem concerning the weight loss effect. I think however, that the first day might be harder for you to stick to the cabbage souo diet than for the others starting with fruits - especially if you are a "sweet tooth".

If you however managed the first day with only vegetables - the remaining days for you should be very easy. I know from many contributors to this forum and also from my experience that especially the veggie day seems to be one of the hardest.

can I mix the meat types on day 5 and 6

Hallo and thank you for this great website.
I would like to know if I can eat different type of meat on day 5 and 6, like eating salmon in the morning and steak in the evening or chicken during the day and steak in the evening?

Hi Sherin,
yes - you may even mix the meat types on day 5 and 6 as described. This shouldn't affect your weight loss success. In contrast - this usually increases your motivation,

6 day vs. 7 day diet

I have no option out of cutting the 7 day to a 6 day diet due to a prior commitment. Is there any benefit to bumping up the 7th day rice day on my 2nd meat day? Or should I just eat the meat for days 5 & 6, and skip the rice? Thanks

Hi Andrea,
choose the option you like the best for your last day 6 either meat/fish or rice day. The most important thing is to switch to a healthy nutriton after your "6 day cabbage soup diet". My personal favorite is a longtermn low fat nutrition.

Switching day 5 and day 6

Hi,

I was wondering if it is ok to switch day 5 and day 6 of the cabbage soup diet?

Also, can i eat other vegetables on day 5, or only tomatoes?

Switching Day 5 and 6 shouldn't be a problem. The classic cabbage soup diet plan allows only tomatoes on day 5 - but we have made the experience, if you add other vegetables on day 5 - your impressive weight loss effect will still happen. By the way the cabbage soup itself that you eat on day 5 has many other vegetable ingredients too...

confused the days

I mistook day 4 with 5 and started my day with tomatoes instead of bananas will the diet still work?
Hi Sofia,
if it's not too late, continue with the banana diet day - the tomatoes shouldn't matter.

If it's too late, then stick to your tomatoe diet day and continue tomorrow with the banana diet day. Then stick to day 6 and day 7 the following days as planned.

We think the diet should still work for you but you might experience stronger hunger feelings. In that case eat more soup!

Switched Day 2 for 3 by Mistake

I accidently started eating a mixture of veg. and fruit on the second day instead of the third day.
Can I just switch these two days or do I have to start over on the diet.


Hi,
you don't have to start over again. Just switch the days, but please be aware that the "vegetable day" is the hardest. So take especially care to stick to this diet: When hunger or the desire for sweets is overwhelming nibble carrots or eat a cup of cabbage soup in between.

switching days 6 and 7

I was just wondering if it was okay to switch days 6 and 7? If I do, will it affect my weight loss? If it's not okay to switch the days, how come? Thanks!

But switching day 6 and 7 shouldn't cause any setbacks.

Can you follow day 6 eating plan, on day 5, and follow day 5 on the six day?

Can I switch days?

I wanted to start this diet tomorrow but I was wondering can Day 6 be switched with Day 4 or 5. My boyfriend was taking me out for supper and I think it will be hard to eat just bananas and milk at a steakhouse. lol.

Dear Kristy,

the order of the cabbage soup diet days makes sense. On day 4 usually your cravings for sugar reach a peak - banana and low fat dairy are a perfect combination to satify this need.

If you switch e.g day 4 and 5 please keep in mind that it may be harder to stick to the whole diet week.

Switching day 6 for day 5 is the better option!

mixed up my cabbage soup diet days

I inadvertently followed the day four plan on day three. I have eaten 4 bananas. Can that count as fruit for today? Then I can add veggies, and more fruit?

Dear Laura,
you might try that - but I have no idea if it will work. Usually the day 4 with the bananas is important to stop possible hunger cravings.

As you've had bananas already on day 3 you might experience a hard time for the remaining 4 days.
You can only tell if it still works if you check it out. When hunger occurs eat more cabbage soup!
