Skim milk versus whole milk

by Siew Jing
(Simferopol,Ukraine)

In ukraine, the milk are sold acoording to the % of fat, the least is 0.5%, continue by 1.5% and 2.5% and 3.2%. Which one should i take?

Hi Siew, Good question!

Skim milk contains no fat, that's why the 0.5 % version would be great. The higher the fat percentage the more fat and calories the milk contains.

Here is a quick comparison of milk nutrition labels (per 8 ounce serving). It shows that the fat percentage really matters:

Whole Milk (150 Calories) contains 8g Fat
2% Milk (120 Calories) contains 4.5g Fat
1% Milk (100 Calories) contains 2.5g Fat
Skim Milk (80 Calories) - 0g Fat
