Tired of the chunky cabbage soup?

by Charlie Webster
(Seattle, WA)

To switch it from the same boring soup, I make 3 small batches. On the main batch, I blend everything up in the blender. Carrots, cabbage, onions, celery, all of it. This makes it easier to eat when out and about because you can put it in a water bottle or thermos. I'll dry out some kale and use as a garnish to change the texture too. The second batch I make chunky, but also spicy. The third batch is only green veggies: celery, cabbage, spinach, green onion, and kale. This batch I only blend the cabbage as I'm sick of the texture, but still have substance from the other whole veggies. For all three onion soup mix works awesome for added smell and flavor.

I am thinking of trying another batch that would be similar to gaspacho, I find the more variety the better and easier it is to stuff stuff stuff yourself!

A great veggie dish is sautéed mushroom and bokchoy. A little salt and pepper and it's a great healthy dinner option with only veggies. (sauté with salt and peppered water)

Hello Charlie,
thank you very much for these great soup variations - I'm sure my readers will appreciate them too! There are some wonderful inspirations.

Your healthy dinner option with sautéed mushroom and bok choy I love too - super simple but sooo delicious!

All the best

Liquified cabbage soup diet
by: Julia

I am also on the cabbage soup diet and doing really well, but looking at the soup after cooking, to me didn't look all that appetising, so I liquidised it. It's a lot smoother and easier to eat and I added hot curry powder to it for the extra spice and taste, I love it now and have made many batches which I just pop in the fridge.

pureed cabbage soup

(unknown)

I am confused. Should I eat all the cabbage and vegetables in the soup or just the liquid part of the cabbage soup? Thanks!

Of course you should eat all the vegetables in the soup too, not only the liquid part. Here is a tip, if you don't like the vegetable chunks: By pureeing the ingredients (after cooking) with a (wand immersion) blender you are able to disguise the vegetables which you would otherwise refuse.
Here is a convenient vegetable day version

What do you mean by drink the soup?
Aren't you supposed to eat it?

Of course the most cabbage soup diet consumers will "eat" the cabbage soup. But some people prefer to drink the soup, especially if they take the soup with them to work e.g. in a thermos bottle. They prepare it similar to a smoothie. It's also a great variation for the cabbage soup:
In a blender or food processor, puree the cabbage soup. You may thin the soup to the desired (drinkable) consistency with broth or hot water.

Puree when the soup...easy to swallow!
by: Anonymous

I couldn't stand the soup after a while....the only way I was able to swallow it, was to puree it. That way, I just gulp it down and I'm done.

If I blend my cabbage soup how may oz a day should I drink?

by Dana
(Northern New York)

I blend my soup how many oz a day should I drink?

Dear Dana,

For best results you should eat/drink half of a large cabbage soup pot per day. This is a lot of soup, I know. And a lot of people just don't do this and ask themselves afterwards why the csd didn't work.

A large 3-4 liter pot is equivalent to 120 US fluid ounces (oz). Per day this would mean you'll have to eat/drink around 60 oz cabbage soup for best purification and weight loss results. On top this will result in a higher satiety too.

All the best,
Gabriela

by: Nancy

I tried blending the cabbage soup, then baking it...it was a real treat, I felt like I was having French Onion Soup minus the bread and cheese. I topped it with just a smidge of lf parmesan cheese and garlic powder.
