Protein Shake with warm milk

by Kads

Can i warm up th milk before adding protein shake to drink...as i like drinking hot milk instaed of cold or room temperature....so can i just warm or hot the milk on the stove before adding the protein powder.

Hi Kads,

I'm not an proteinshake expert, but especially whey protein powder should be drunken with cold liquids. Whey protein contains 'germs' (good for the body), mixing it with hot milk/water will kill these germs thus drinking it won't give you any benefit at all.

Other types of protein powder are allowed at least with warm milk (not hot!) as the powder dissolves better in warm milk. But many people claim that it tastes disgusting if you drink proteinshakes with warm milk, it's easier to drink them with cold milk and shake the mixture in a blender.

All the best,
Gabriela

by Gayle
(Ireland)

On your website you say you make the protein shakes with buttermilk. Would you get the same effect using skimmed milk?
Yes! Of course you can also use skimmed milk for your protein shakes.

Cold Drinking Whey

In your fat burning shake recipe you mention "cold drinking whey". Can you please explain what this is since I am not familiar with it. Thanks!

Good question!
Whey is also called milk plasma. It is the liquid remaining after milk has been curdled and strained. In Germany it's offered in the diary department. If you can't get it in your region you may also use low fat milk or butter milk.
