Protein Shake Ingredients

by Elissa
(New Jersey)

What ingredients go into the protein shake? Do I use fat free milk? Can I have the protein shake in the afternoon instead of the morning?

Hi Elissa,
you may have low fat milk, fat free milk, butter milk, drinking whey or water for the protein shake. There exists a convenient cabbage soup diet plan that allows you to drink two protein shakes per day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. It's up to you!

You'll find it on the following link 7 day cabbage soup diet. When you scroll down you'll find two delicious protein shake recipes (fat burner drinks) based on butter milk or drinking whey and pawpaws.

All the best,
Gabriela

Protein supplement with carbs on cabbage soup diet

by Isa
(San Diego, CA, USA)

Hi there,
I am following the cabbage soup diet along with running for half an hour every morning. I know you recommended zero carbs for the protein shake, although since I am exercising, no carbs give me less energy. I bought a protein and fiber complex mix called "be-buff" for women that contains 2% daily value carbs. Will this diet still give me the average results with this protein supplement?

Hi Isa,
half an hour running every morning is an excellent start for your diet days.

The Carbs in the protein influence your insuline level in a way that may cause uncontrollable hunger cravings. This makes it hard sticking to the cabbage soup diet. But if this doesn't occur in your case then you are safe and will experience similar impressive weight loss results as with zero carbs.

All the best,
Gabriela

slimfast shake

by veronika
(USA)

Can I have a slimfast shake instead of having to prepare the shake with soy protein?

Yes, but we recommend the new Optima Slim-Fast shakes. They are high in protein and do not contain any appetite suppresants, stimulants, and herbal ingredients. You may have two per day. As first break between breakfast and lunch time. And as second break between lunch and dinner.
All the best.

Protein powder questions

by Theresa
(Scottsdale)

Can I have tofu in my veggie stir fry on veggie day? How about sweet potatos, beets, and other types of root veggies?

Also, is the soy protein shake a shake powder or plain protein powder? Vanilla or no flavor? Do you use this same protein powder mix in the fat burner drink? And, I have no idea what cold whey drink is. Can you explain what that is?

Thanks for all your info!

Kind regards,
Theresa

Hi Theresa,
on the veggie day no tofu is allowed but you may have it on your meat days instead of meat/fish.

Root Vegetables like carrots, daikon, parsnip, black salsify, beet root, horseradish, burdock ...are allowed while on cabbage soup diet.

Sweet Potatoes you may only have on the second day in the evenenig instead of your baked potatoe.

Your protein powder question:
In earlier times we recommended to use only the
plain protein powder. In 2009 we have tested the cabbage soup diet also based on shakes with Vanilla protein powder and have come to the same impressive weight loss results.
Yes, we mixed it also in the fat burner drink.
Find here more informations: protein shakes.

Whey is also called milk plasma - it is the liquid that remains after milk has been curdled and strained. In Germany you get it in every dairy department, called "Molke". If you don't get it in your area you may use also low fat/fat free milk or buttermilk.

Dear Therea,
your questions are very welcome!

All the best,
Gabriela

herbalife protein powder

by Sushmita
(India)

I'm using protien shake of herbalife(chocolate flavour) which contains protein per 100g 36.0 & carbohydrate per 100g 52.0, is it good for weight loss?

Dear Sushmita,
the more protein the better. Best protein powders contain 100 % protein and Zero Carbohydrates, Zero Sugar and Zero Fat. The Herbalife powder is great for replacing a meal after the cabbage soup diet week - helping to maintain or even improve your weight loss. It is not appropriate for the 7 days of cabbage soup diet because it is too high in carbohydrates!

Almond Milk and Cashews.

by MAMJ
(NEW YORK)

I'm having an extreme craving for Cashews. I already know that Peanuts and Walnuts are not allowed, does this go for all nuts or specifically those two? I also ask this because I only drink Almond Milk... would it ruin the diet if i continue this?

Hey Mamj,
you are right you can't have any nuts while on the cabbage soup diet week, You can sprinkle however 1 teaspoon of sunflower seeds over your soup if you want. Regarding almond milk, I recommend to try it instead of regular milk or yoghurt - I know others who used it successfully but please use only unsweetened almond milk.

Recommendations on Protein Shake

by Melissa
(Lexington, KY)

What is the best soy protein to use for the protein shake? I have a powder mix (EAS-AdvantEdge brand) that is vanilla flavored. Do you have a brand receommendation? I noticed that there are 17 grams sugar and 20 grams of protein in 1 scoop on the brand that I have.

I looked at the ingredients and they are: soy protein isolate, fructose, natural and artificial flavor and soy lecithin. Is the kind ok to use for the shake?

Also, what time of day is best to drink the shake and do you recommend drinking the shake everyday?

Thanks!

I've dedicated a whole page to protein shakes just follow the link: Protein Shakes
