No consistent weight loss with cabbage soup diet

by Nimrah
(Saudi Arabia)

Hello Gabriela,
I am on day 4 of the diet. the first day I lost 2 pounds on the diet and I just checked my weight and there is no weight loss. I had almost 8 tbsps of lentils yesterday. Is that why I haven't lost any weight? I'm about to get my period but that usually doesn't result in weight gain. I'm really upset. Should I continue this diet? All the people who see me think I've lost weight but no significant change on the weighing scale. Also, I'm doing aerobics for an hour daily and also walking at 5km/h for half an hour. I dont see why I haven't been losing weight. Last question, on day 5 and 6, can I have processed meat also?
Regards,
Nimrah

Hi Nimrah,
don't worry, 2 pounds are a great start. Some people see a considerable weight loss only the day after the 7 day cabbage soup diet.

Your walking and aerobics exercises are perfect.
You should know that this means that you build up muscle mass - this muscle mass has the property to melt fat. This is great but explains also, why your weight loss might be not that high. Muscles weigh more than fat. Overall your appearence might be slimmer although you don't see a big weight loss. Please stick to this strategy, as in the long run you will lose even more pounds.

Regarding processed meat: Please use only very low fat processed meat - the better option are lean steaks or fish.

All the best,
Gabriela

Cabbage Soup Diet
by: Tina Lowe

This is the best diet ever! I've done it twice this year. Starting from days 1-5 I lost 5lbs. When I weighed in on the seventh day I had lost 4lbs in the last 2 days. So, the final results do come near the end of the diet. Make sure you are drinking water and not exercising excessively because this diet doesn't have enough calories in it and you will deprive your body of important key nutrients needed...Good luck!

Hey Tina,
congrats on your success, well done:)
Cheers

No weight loss in first 4 days
by: AJ

Hi,

I am feeling really really dishearten right now :(

I heard all good reviews on this diet, followed this diet to letters by far and its my DAY 4 on the diet.

And I see no weight change since Day 1 or before, may be 1 pound in total(if i push it to limit of optimism). I am 5.2 and weight 114 to begin with and targeting 110 mark at least. So far it just been a bummer.

P.S: i am usually a very healthy eater, Low carb and low fat and exercise 5 days a week (aerobics and some weights) - buti am always little round and chubby in appearance.

I am not sure, where am i headed wrong?

Can someone help :(

-Aj

Dear AJ!

don't despair. There exists a rule! The healthier your nutrition and lifestyle before the cabbage soup diet was - the less you will see an impressive weight loss result.

You are already living very healthy: low fat and low carb nutrition, regular aerobics and some weights - there is nothing what the csd could teach you.

People with an already healthy lifestyle usually don't lose more than 2-3 pounds per week with the csd - and those people I would not recommend this rigid diet. I know, this is frustrating!

Maybe you could use the cabbage soup a starter before your regular meals to cut more calories down in the long run.

But you should also learn to accept your somehow rounder appearance.

By the way, Congratulations to your healhy lifestyle, please stick to it also in the future.

All the best,
Gabriela

Gain Weight on the cabbage soup diet

by Maryam
(India)

Can anyone "gain" weight on the cabbage soup diet?

Everyone’s body reacts different. Some people don’t see any weight loss until the last day of the cabbage soup diet. Others gain some weight the first days. But in the end they feel lighter and have usually dropped some pounds.

It depends also on how often you have been on the cabbage soup diet or another quick weight loss program or how overweight you are. If you repeat this diet too often the weight loss effect might decrease.

Another important aspect is that the higher your sodium (salt) intake per day the more water is retained in the body and you might end up gaining weight (water). That’s why we recommend for the cabbage soup recipe the use of low sodium bouillon cubes or low sodium salt.

SIMILAR QUESTIONS:

I'm on Day 3 of The Cabbage Soup Diet and gained 2 pounds. Is there a limit on how much soup and other allowed foods for the day you are on and how often you are eating for that day? (by Unknown)

Most of your question is answered above.
For the soup and allowed foods there is no limit.
We recommend 5 meals a day: Breakfast, Break, Lunch, Break and Dinner. You may eat soup also in between whenever hungry. All the best!

Switch Days
by: Anonymous

I have a evening function to go to on my day 4, which is skimmed milk and bananas. Could I possibly switch days 3 and 4? Day 3 is fruit and vegetables which would be served at my function. I can't go and not eat anything and I really don't want to take a banana shake, etc. with me. I will be there for hours, so even if I eat bananas and have milk before I go, I will still want to eat or drink something while I am there.

cabbage soup diet and walking
by: Anonymous

Hi,
I'm on my third day of taking the cabbage soup diet and i feel a bit lighter and my head also feel light but my stomach does not feel that big. I am sticking to the diet for the 7 days to see how much weight i have lost, on my first day had done what is to be done and also on the 2nd day also and on the 3rd day have combine 1 and 2 together with the 3 day. Hope that this will help me to lose my tummy and love handles because i does walk 8 miles every morning and also lift some weights and do some squats

Hi,

you are on the right path - compliments for your 8 miles walk every morning. I'm convinced that your 7 day cabbage soup diet will be a great quick start for a successful lifestyle change.
Please stick to your 8 miles run in the morning also after the diet week - combined with lifting weights you will for sure improve your tummy.

All the best,

Gabriela

Lost Only 2 kgs :(

by Dan
(Dubai)

I am feeling extremely unhappy and disappointed, I lost only 2 kgs :( This is my 8th day... I did consume 1 liter of cabbage soup on the first 4 days total 4 liters :( and 3 days i made use I drink atleast 800ml of soup ! I did exercises and religiously took this diet without any failure :(
Will I loose weight?

I was 69kg, now 67kg. HELP ! I need to lose fast as I my brother is getting married.

Dear Dan,

don't give up! 2 kg are at least a good start!

I don't know how large you are - but 69 kg, and now 67 kg - that doesn't seem that you are heavily overweight. Fact is that the nearer your ideal weight approaches the harder it gets.

On top muscles are much heavier than fat. It might happen that you have not drop much pounds on the scale but your overall appearence is slimmer.

I would recommend to use the cabbage soup as a starter/filler before your regular meals. With this strategy of course together with exercises you will shed more pounds in the long run.

All the best,
Gabriela

Disappointed - no weight lost

by H.
(Scotland)

I'm 16 and I am on day 7 of the diet. I weighed myself this morning and I weigh nearly exactly what I did at the beginning of the week (144 pounds). I stuck to the diet very rigidly and I can't understand how nothing has happened. I have been quite active and been to the gym and a concert. The only thing I can think that could have possibly gone wrong is that I accidentally ate the tiniest bit of sweetened dried mango (literally about 4 pieces) without realising it had sugar in it. I haven't eaten excessive amounts of any of the foods on any days (on most days I ate less that what was recommended). I am not on my period however it normally comes about a week from now.
What went wrong?

Dear H.,
it is not allowed to do the cabbage soup diet if you are younger than 18 years. This you can read in any csd disclaimer.

Please stop doing such kind of rigid diets before you are not fully grown up.

The healthier approach for you is to eat low fat and itensify your aearobic exercises.

All the best,
Gabriela

I did this when I was 15 and Im fine!
by: Alex

I did this when I was 15 and overweight and it worked just fine, Actually I did it for 2 weeks solid and it was tough but wow it really worked!, As for growth im now 6"1 (Im male lol!) and very broad shouldered so if its for a couple of weeks only I would reccomend it, I stopped getting bullied about being overweight and I got a girlfriend for the first time it was all good, Now iv let myself slip im doing it again (now 23) and I have all faith in it, Although its not reccomended for under 18's I did it and it was fine but everyone is different so obviousl its at your own risk I guess but its only veg really and thats not bad for you!!

If you didnt lose weight I can only imagine you didnt stick to it properly because this DOES 100% work and it works very well!!

No change

by catherine
(Canada Kamloops)

I'm on day 4 and i dont see a change

Hi Catherine,
everybody reacts different to the cabbage soup diet. Some people see a weight loss only in the last days of the diet week.

Make sure to optimize water retaining factors such as "too much sodium" in your soup and switch if possible to low sodium broth.

Always a good idea is to exersise in the morning - with an empty stomach!

Cabbage Soup Diet
by: Anonymous

The best rule here is to listen to your body. With that said, this is NOT the week to run the Boston Marathon. Since you’re eating such a reduced calorie load with little energy producing carbs, you may need to reduce your workout. Perhaps try something rigorous but less cardio related, like yoga!

Hi I'm on day 2 of the diet and I'm finding it really easy I love the soup and I dont feel like I'm starving! I do feel like I'm eating too much though?!

Yesterday I had 8 tangerines, half a Cantelope melon, lots of grapes, 2 apples and 4 cups of soup! Surely all that sugar is bad?!

Today I've had 2 cups of soup and 2 veg stir frys!
Is it cheating that I've had branflakes for breakfast both days and will this slow my weightloss?!?

Hey Angie,
it is a lot of fruits you ate on day one but still it doesn't matter as long as you eat sufficient soup. 2 days of bran flakes for breakfast is "an allowed cheat", it might influence a bit your weight loss but it won't screw up your whole diet week.

All the best
Gabi

Could this be why I'm not loosing weight?

I'm on day three of the cabbage soup diet. I've gained a pound. Feeling very frustrated. Trying to loose the last 10 pounds I gained during my last pregnancy with my twins who are now a year old. Yesterday on the all vege day I ate a whole bag of frozen peas before I knew they where not aloud. Could this be why I'm not loosing?

Hey,
yes, this could be the reason...peas, beans and other legumes are not allowed while on the cabbage soup diet. Although very healthy and high in protein they will affect your weight loss success. Best advice: Wait a few days/weeks, try it again stick closely to the plan.

All the best
Gabi
