On the Fruit Days is it okay to use canned or jared fruits if you first rinse all the juice off with cold water in a strainer?

No! They usually contain added sugar to preserve. NEVER get it in syrup. Better in natural juices. But even those with natural juice aren't the best choice for the fruit days - some losses of vitamin C occur during the canning process. We recommend to use fresh fruits for your fruit day.

Hi Marie, no dried fruits are allowed on fruit day.

Dried fruit has all the sugar retained while all the water is removed. If you compare it to fresh fruit, it is very high in calories and not useful to lose weight.

A cup of raisins contains the same calorie content as a pound (16 ounces) of grapes.
1 cup raisins contains 500 calories while
1 cup grapes contains only 70 calories – what a difference!.
So even after the cabbage soup diet, dried fruits should only be consumed in small quantities.

Another thing you should consider is, that the fiber in dried fruit is less successful in satisfying your hunger.

Hi Siew Jing,
No! On Day 7 besides cabbage soup and rice only vegetables and salad is allowed.

As unsweetened fruit juice, the unsweetened cranberry juice is meant. That by the way can be drunken every day.

you may eat fruits as a snack on the specified
fruit days day 1 and day 3.

On the other days you are not allowed to eat fruits.

allergic to fruits on cabbage soup diet

Hi I've got birch tree syndrome and can't eat fruit. What can i eat instead? or can i just eat the soup.
Not sure what to eat on day 4 or when i have to have fruit?

I regret but I'm not allowed to give you here any medical consultation.

Fruits are important to calm your cravings for carbohydrates and sweets on the 7 day cabbage soup diet week. Of course you could try it with only vegetables instead but that would make the diet week much harder for you.
Please ask your doctor, maybe you'll find together an appropriate weight loss concept for you.

Cabbage Soup Diet without bananas

I want to do the 7-day Cabbage soup diet, but I do not eat bananas or rice. Can I substitute the bananas and eliminate the rice?

good banana substitutes are:
papaya, apricots or kiwis.

Rice is important on your last cabbage soup diet day. A possible replacement could be bulgar wheat!

Can you eat Guacamole as a vegatable or fruit while on the cabbage soup diet?


Guacamole is a dip based on Avocados which are valued for its high vitamin and fat content (fat percentage 70 – 90 %) but no cholesterol. Together with olives, they are the only high-fat fruits.

We don’t recommend Guacamole for the 7 day cabbage soup diet but endorse you to use it after it. Here is why:

The motivating great weight loss success of the cabbage soup diet is closely connected to the fact that it’s a very low fat diet program. Incorporating Avocados to the cabbage soup diet program would add a lot of "healthy" but unnecessary fat to your diet nutrition and lead to a limited weight loss effect. Some people will even risk to gain some weight in this week.

After your cabbage soup diet however you should’t be afraid of the fat in guacamole. It's rich in vitamin E and it’s the good, cholesterol-reducing fat.

Choose avocados like you would any other fat source. We recommend to eat 1/2 avocado per day. By this you are eating 3 fat servings which should fit in a healthy eating plan.
