first day on the cabbage soup diet

Is it true that I can have some warm soup just before bedtime? Won't this affect my weightloss?
After having some protein shake in the morning and evening how long must I wait to have some soup?

Hi,
yes of course you may have some cabbage soup before bedtime - if you like this. This won't effect your weight loss - in contrast, this helps your body to burn even more fat and you won't be hungry at night.

There is no rule how long to wait for soup after the protein shake, but usually you aren't hungry immediately after the shake.

The optimal strategy is to have your shakes as "snack" between your main meals, e.g. first one in the morning at 10 am and the second one at 4 pm in the afternoon. Eat the cabbage soup whenever hungry.

All the best,

Gabriela

are energy pills allowed on the cabbage soup diet?

by Diane
(Conway, AR US)

Hi...

I am beginning day one (fruit day). My questions or:
1) I usually begin my day with a "energy pill" before my workout.
can I continue this? and is excercise recommended during this
7-day diet week?
2) May I season my baked potato with salt also?

Dear Diane,
1) if your energy pill is a kind of vitamine then there shouldn't be a problem, in contrast we endorse taking multivitamins and calcium while on the cabbage soup diet. Daily exercises are highly recommended!

2) be careful with salt - the healthier option is low sodium seasoning.

All the best,
Gabriela

Did I totally mess up this diet on day 1 with olives?

First of all, I added jalapenos and sliced green olives to my soup thinking I had all kinds of leaway with variations ... now thinking that I busted the whole week having olives in my soup ... whole jar!!!?!?!?!?!

Also, was wondering about slimfast meal replacement as protein shake? Only because I already have some.

Help!?!?! I am not much of a cook, so it was a big deal to make this gigantic pot of soup .... I hope I can continue the week even with my olive add in!?!! P.s. what tipped me off, is I read somewhere that avocado is not allowed at all this week... then I started thinking olives would be out as well?

Hi,
usually you can have one tablesoon olive oil per day. E.G. adding it to your soup. I don't know how high the fat content of this olive jar is?!
But it could be a good idea to freeze the soup in portions and cook yourself a new pot - only with allowed ingredients. Then you have a nice soup variation...I think one portion "olive cabbage soup" per day and 4-5 portions of the original cabbage soup could be a viable way to have the best of both worlds and still lose weight.

Yes, you could use the slimfast shake as protein shake replacement.

All the best,
Gabriela

cabbage kills me

I tried the cabbage soup diet but i got stomach cramps and diarrea. Is there somthing i can put in the soup that won't effect me like this, i thought i was going to die with the pain

Hello,
I'm not allowed to give here any medical advice.

For a better tolerance of cabbage there exist many options. E.g. put Camomille flowers, cumin ...etc. in your cabbage soup.

Find here some great ideas regarding the prevention of stomach pains and flatulence treatment.

Another option is to do a 7 day vegetable diet based on a vegetable soup without cabbage.

All the best,
Gabriela

In your case the cabbage soup diet might not be the best choice. Please find yourself another more appropriate diet for your special needs.

want to loose 20 kg

by Mansi
(mumbai,maharashtra,india)

I am Mansi adult and I am 24 yrs old. My weight is 74 kg, my height is 4.11 - I really want to loose some weight.. Within 3 months can u plz suggest any of the best diet plan..plzzzzz

Dear Mansi,
Loosing 20 kg in 3 months is a lot and could harm your health. For a healthy weight loss approach not more than 5 kg per months are recommended.

With the cabbage soup diet you can lose up to 5 kg in a week. But it is not recommended to repeat this seven day cabbage soup diet too often. Maybe you can do it 2 times within three months - that means wait at least two months before repeating it.

Together with a low fat nutrition after the cabbage soup diet weeks combined with aerobic exercises you might be able to shed 15 kg in three months. This could be a healthy and viable strategy.

All the best,
Gabriela
