Feeling Tired and Lightheaded

by Liz Mendola
(Arizona)

1. Today is my 4th day on the diet and I am very tired and have been feeling lightheaded. Is this normal?

2. Tomorrow is day 5 with beef and tomatoes. I do not like tomatoes. What can I substitute?

3. Everyone says that I will only lose water weight and will gain it back once the 7 days are over. Is this true?

Hi Liz,

1. Everybody reacts different. Try to drink enough water or tea through the day to purify your body. Take also a good multivitamin and minerals daily. Eat cabbage soup whenever hungry. Usually the tireness and lightheaded feeling disappears within a day. If not we recommend to consult your doctor.

2. Concerning tomatoes, find here an answer to a similar question: Tomato Substitutes

3. Of course you will lose water with the cabbage soup diet, but not only. The newer cabbage soup diet plans add protein shakes to the diet. That's why we recommend the convenient cabbage soup diet program with added protein. By this your body will burn fat instead of the so important muscle mass.

All the best,
Gabriela

second day sickness

by Marjanna Bremer
(Pesse, Drenthe, Netherlands)

I am on day 3 today, and I must say, yesterday was so difficult, I thought about quiting. I had a humungus headache, I felt like throwing up and I could not move without dizziness. No fruits is what made it especially hard. And the fact that I may not use salt, even though I only use low-sal wich is 66% less natriumchloride. Today I weighed myself and I only lost 500 gr, I almost lost hope. I made a new pan of asian cabbbage soup and promised myself to stick to it, but are there anymore people sick on this diet? Could my thyroidmedicine (thyrax 0.86 mg a day)have something to do with it?

greetz Marjanna

Dear Marjanna,
thank you for your photo testimonial - showing a happy dutch woman.
I hope today with allowed vegetables AND fruits you feel much better... If not, I regret, but we are not allowed to give you any medical advice. We recommend to ask your doctor directly.

People react different to the cabbage soup diet.
The majority feels very well and full of new energy. There is however a minority which experiences sickness, tireness or headaches in the beginning. Headaches might be associated with metabolic changes in the body system and the detoxifying effect...Pumping all that fluid in and the radical nutrition change also changes the heart rate, blood flow...

Please make sure to drink sufficient water and tea besides the cabbage soup.

Usually these symptoms disappear very soon - if not we strongly recommend a medical consultation.

Our experience proves, that the convenient cabbage soup diet with added protein shakes is tolerated far better.

The weight loss effect starts sometimes very early but can also wait until 2 days after the diet week.

All the best,

Gabriela

Day 5- Feeling very weak

Hey,

It's Day 5 today and I'm feeling rather weak and tired.

I've prepared grilled chicken and a tomato salad for dinner and planning on having the soup for lunch. Is there really nothing else I can eat today? Different sorts of vegetables? A piece or two of fruit? Or a small bowl of cereal for breakfast? I'm not having any of the protein or fatburner shakes.

Any advice?

Thanks,
x

Hi x,
it would be very advisable to add protein shakes or at least low fat milk/yoghurt to your 7 day cabbage soup diet plan - to protect your muscle mass and attack instead your "fat zones".

I'm not allowed to give you here any medical advice. But especially the lack in carbohydrates may cause the feeling of weakness and tireness.

As allowed cheat you may have 1 cup of bran flakes (sugar-free) per day. This might help.
Another option is to eat cabbage soup in between too.

Although not allowed (but it would not damage the diet success)...you could still try and nibble some carrots, they have a high glycemic index and balance out a low insuline level.

All the best,
Gabriela

Why do I feel confused when on the cabbage soup diet

by Dee

Why do I feel confused when on the cabbage soup diet

Hi Dee,
some people feel light-headed when doing the cabbage soup diet and some also have difficulties in concentration, especially when following the old cabbage soup diet version. This is due to the lack of calories, fat and protein your body is not used to.

A great tip from one of our readers is to take one water soluble vitamin C in case you feel light-headed.

Try also to drink enough tea or water through your day to purify your body. It is important to take also a good multivitamin and minerals daily. And whenever hungry, cabbage soup, the more the better...

All the best,
Gabriela

water weight gain?

by Janice
(london)

hi.
I'm on day 3 of cabbage soup diet and I've gained a few pounds could it be that I didn't follow recipe exact? I just used the vegetables and stock cubes is this ok? thanks jan

Hi Jan,
when doing the cabbbage soup - no matter what recipe - it is important to watch the sodium intake. The best approach is to use low-sodium cubes and seasoning. If your sodium intake is too high this might bind water in your body and you gain "water" weight instead of loosing it.

All the best,
Gabriela
