Egg whites instead of protein powder?

I'm having a hard time finding a good brand of PLAIN protein powder that doesn't have any carbs or sugar.. so I'm wondering if I could use egg whites in the shakes instead of protein powder? (the taste and salmonella scares me though - what else could I do to get all the protein i need?)

we don't recommend egg whites for the salmonella reasons mentioned.
We do recommend however Soy Protein. It is a good vegetable source of complete protein in high quality which is very low in fat.
We have made good experiences with "Now Soy Protein". It contains 90% Soy Protein Isolate but no sugar, salt, yeast, starch, corn, wheat, gluten, milk or preservatives.
