Edamame

by Amanda
(Boca Raton, Florida)

On my vegetable day can I eat Edamame lightly salted?
No! Edamame is similar to beans, pulses and pies a legume and not allowed for the cabbage soup diet week.

Edamame is pre-eminent for its high (20%) oil content as well as its high (40%) protein content. It makes a great and healthy snack after your cabbage soup diet week!

Some background information:
The green vegetable is known as a immature soybean. The soybean is a legume, which is also classed as an oilseed.
Immature soybeans with the Japanese name "Edamame" are usually boiled whole in their green pod and served with salt.
Soybeans which are prepared this way are becoming more and more popular in the US. Edamame has been praised as an great snack alternative in healthy living and fitness magazines, because of the health benefits of soy.
