coconut oil for cabbage soup diet not recommended
can you take coconut oil on the cabbage soup diet
We recommend to take olive oil instead of coconut oil for the cabbage soup diet. Here is why:
There is a lot of scientific evidence showing the benefit of eating monounsaturated fats (such as olive oil or rapeseed oil) or
polyunsaturated fats (oils based on vegetables and spreads).
That's why the improved version of the cabbage soup diet allows the intake of 1 tablespoon of above mentioned oils like olive oil or rapeseed oil per day.
You may use this oil for frying vegetables or add it to the cabbage soup. Especially the so called virgin olive oil is recommended with its high content of polyunsaturated fats.
...And coconut oil?
In health circles, coconut oil is and remains a subject of controversy.
Like butter, coconut oil is extremely high in saturated fat (90%), 6% monounsaturated fat, and 2% polyunsaturated fat.
Why is this bad?
Saturated fatty acids may raise the levels of LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) in the blood. Higher levels of LDL cholesterol in the blood are associated with heart disease.
Our recommendation: If you want to add oil to the cabbage soup diet week then choose only the best one: extra virgin olive oil!
