Cabbage Soup Diet Cheats

Cheats I have seen - Are they really OK and are there others?
I have seen versions of this diet which say you can add 1 tablespoon of low-fat sour cream and up to 2 teaspoons of shredded low fat mozzarella cheese to the soup for flavor and texture. Are these allowed cheats or not? and are there others.
This is my second time trying this and using these two cheats makes the soup more tolerable. Last time I gave up midway through day 5.
Kudos on the addition of protein shakes by the way.
Thanks
Hi Robert,
good question! Limited cheats are ok with the soup. You may add like you've written 1 tablespoon of low-fat sour cream and up to 2 teaspoons of shredded low fat mozzarella cheese.
Instead of Mozarella you could also use grinded cheese. These quantities are meant per day and not per soup portion!
Another cheat option would be to add one teaspoon olive oil per soup bowl - but not more than 1 tablespoon per day. The olive oil you could use to fry some vegetables some minutes and then pour in the broth and the rest of ingredients. This gives a great taste to the soup.
Generally these cheats won't harm your weight loss success - in opposite they help you to stay motivated and stick to the diet plan. These allowed "healthy" cheats keep you away from "bad" cheats like chocolate and cakes. What is more, by these improved soup recipes you'll start to love the cabbage soup as a filler before meals also after the cabbage soup diet week.
There is one exception, when we don't recommend the improved cabbage soup diet: Body Cleansing.
If your aim is to cleanse your body once a year the best cabbage soup diet plan is the old one without protein and also without "healthy" cheats. But you know it - this plan is also the hardest!
For those who want to lose weight in the long run my recommendation is to use the improved cabbage soup diet with protein and allowed cheats 2 -3 times per year. This plan helps you also after the cabbage soup diet to stick to healthy habits.
All the best,
Gabriela
