Beef Days

by Kathy
(Sonora)

What kind of beef can I eat on the beef days, can I have hamburger or corned beef?

The days 5 and 6 are usually called the beef days.
Allowed are beef steaks, rump steaks, roast beef, brisket of beef, scotch fillet and also boiled beef. The best with boiled beef is that you may cut thin slices also into your cabbage soup. It's very delicious. Hamburger we don't recommend as they contain more than only beef. If you mean with corned beef canned meat, then you may go for it but much better and healthier are beef steaks.

If you don't like beef you may also switch to poultry and/or fish:

Day 4
by: Karen

I do not have that many bananas in my house or skim milk am I able to substitute that with anything?

Hey Karen,
This is tough, as I'm not sure that you have the following substitutes available. You could replace bananas with:
- apricots
- kiwis
- pawpaws

I hope I could help otherwise repeat day 3 instead and try to buy bananas as soon as possible.

All the best
Gabi

What is the equivalent to beef on day 5 and how much can i eat?

by Sonam

I do not eat beef, so i have substitutes beef for grilled chicken, it says we can eat up to 20 ounces of beef, how much is the equivalent in chicken? Can I have it for lunch and dinner? also, are we allowed mustard with the chicken?

Hi Sonam,
Thank you for your question. Yes you may have chicken instead of beef on day 5 + 6 of the cabbage soup diet. But pleaese pay attention that the chicken is without skin. See a recipe suggestion on this page.

For quantity the same is true as for beef. You may have 20 ounces or 600 grams lean chicken/beaf or fish on each of the "meat days".

E.G. 10 ounces for lunch and 10 ounces for dinner.

Mustard is allowed in very limited quantities - we recommend not more than 1 teaspoon per day.

All the best,
Gabriela

do we absolutely have to eat the beef

by Kevin Jones
(Washington)

Hi my name is Kevin and i'm on day 2 and wanted to know do we absolutely have to eat the beef and tomato's or the banana seeing how i do not like tomato's very much and already have a pretty good helping in my soup already?

Dear Kevin,

you can have also other lean meat, poultry or fish if you don't like beef. Vegetarians report good results with tofu instead.

Bananas can be replaced with apricots, kiwis or pawpaws.

Instead of tomatoes you can have e.g. red peppers.
Wishing you a successful remaining csd week!

All the best,
Gabriela

Beef, soya mince and soya milk

by Lizzie

Hi , I am really looking forward to starting this diet. I wonder if I could ask a couple of questions please? My husband and I are doing the 'new' version of the diet and I was wondering if he could have beef on the chicken and fish days? Also, can I have TVP (soya mince) and soya milk on my version?

Thanks
Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,
your questions are always welcome.
Yes he could have beef on the two "meat days".

Soya Mince is a great meat substitute for the meat days and soya milk is a very healthy protein source that is highy recommended for the cabbage soup diet week.

I wish you two a successful cabbage soup diet week,
all the best,

Gabriela

Thanks so much!
by: Lizzie

Hi Gabriela, thank you so much regarding my questions about beef and soya - i've never known such excellent and fast service. Brilliant!! My husband is so happy as I can make him homemade beef and vegetable goulash and it will be diet friendly!!

If we are desperate can we repeat the diet after the first seven days?

Thank you again - we need more people like you!!

Hi Lizzie,
thank you for your kind words.

Best for your health would be to wait several weeks (at least 8 weeks) before repeating the cabbage soup diet. A better option is to switch to a low fat nutrition and have cabbage soup or another vegetable soup as a starter before your regular meals. With this strategy you will also shed some pounds in the long run.

All the best,
Gabriela
